HOW TO MAKE BIOMASS PELLET FROM BAMBOO?
The production of high-quality bamboo pellets requires a scientific, well-designed processing line, as each stage directly influences pellet quality, production efficiency, and operating costs. A complete bamboo pellet production process typically includes raw material preparation, chipping & crushing, drying, pelletizing, cooling, and packaging.
Bamboo Chipper
Bamboo is too large to be fed into the pellet mill, so you need a bamboo chipper to pre-crush. Bamboo stalks, branches, roots, and scraps can all be used as raw materials. Bundles of bamboo can also be fed directly into a bamboo chipper and chipped into uniformly sized 15- 30mm bamboo chips. However, please note that the maximum diameter of the bundled bamboo is no more than 50cm. After chipping, the raw materials are more uniform in size, which not only improves subsequent crushing efficiency but also reduces equipment operating load and energy consumption, laying the foundation for the stable operation of the entire bamboo powder pellet production line.
Bomboo Hammer Mill
After being chipped, the bamboo chips need to be further crushed to get 6-10mm sawdust size. This is typically done using a bamboo hammer mill or a high-efficiency fine pulverizer to crush the bamboo chips into bamboo powder or fibrous materials. Uniform raw material size helps improve pelletizing efficiency and pellet formation rate, while also increasing the bamboo density and strength.
Bamboo Rotary Dryer
Fresh bamboo naturally has a high moisture content, and pellet production has strict requirements for the moisture content of raw materials. To get good pellet quality, the moisture content of raw materials generally needs to be controlled between 13% and 17%. For small-scale bamboo pellet production projects, natural air drying or simple hot air drying will be the best choice considering saving cost; for large-scale pellet projects, a drum dryer will be a must to achieve rapid and uniform drying performance.
Bamboo Pellet Machine
After being crushed and dried, the bamboo powder is fed into the bamboo powder pellet mill, where it is compressed and shaped under the high temperature and pressure generated by the ring die or flat die and press rollers. No binders needed during the pelleting process; the natural lignin in the bamboo acts as a binder after being heated, giving the fuel pellets high density. You can choose 6 mm, 8 mm, 10 mm, or a maximum 12mm pellet diameter.
Bomboo Pellet Cooler
Freshly pressed bamboo powder pellets are still quite hot, and their internal structure is not yet fully stable. A counter-flow pellet cooler could help pellet cooling quickly. During cooling, the pellet temperature gradually approaches ambient temperature, further improving the pellet’s hardness, thus reducing breakage during transportation and storage. After cooling, the pellets pass through a vibrating screen below the pellet cooler to separate the fine powder and broken pellets, improving the pellet quality and your market competitiveness.

After cooling, qualified bamboo pellets can be directly fed into the pellet packaging machine for weighing and packaging. Semi-automatic pellet packaging machines are more cost-effective in the plant.
