The raw material for the flat die pellet mill enters vertically from the feed inlet, resulting in a very short feeding path and reducing the likelihood of clogging. THE PELLETIZING PROCESS FROM GRAPHITE POWDER TO CARBON RAISER PELLET
1.Raw material collection bins
Large bins are generally used for raw material collection. These bins are equipped with bag opening devices and dust collection systems, ensuring a good working space. Typically, 2-4 feeding bins are needed. When used in conjunction with a loader, the feeding bins enable continuous and rapid feeding.
2.Weighing and batching scale
Before the raw materials are premixed, different raw materials and adhesives need to be weighed and batched according to the required proportions. Depending on the proportions, belt metering devices, screw metering devices or other integrated metering devices may be required.
3.Raw material mixer
The paddle mixer is the main machine used in the mixing stage. The mixer needs to be equipped with an automatic unloading device and a water spray metering system. It is used in the trial operation stage of the graphite particle production line and can be precisely adjusted according to the actual situation.
4.Graphite pellet mill
Flat die graphite pellet mills need to be used in conjunction with a large material distribution hopper, especially in production lines with an output of more than 2 tons. The buffering and material distribution function of the hopper can greatly reduce the failure rate of pellet mill blockage.
5.Graphite pellet dryer
The large chain plate dryer is the equipment with the largest floor space in the entire production line. This is because graphite particles need to be dried at low temperature and the final moisture content needs to be extremely low. This requires extending the drying time as much as possible, and the multi-layer chain plate dryer is the best choice.
6.Pellet screening machine
Dried granules may contain some broken pieces and powder. In order to improve the quality of the finished product, it is necessary to screen the high-quality granules. However, due to the raw material characteristics of graphite granules, in order to ensure the integrity of the granules, it is necessary to use a drag-and-shake screen as much as possible to protect the granules to the greatest extent.
7.Graphite pellet cooler
The chain plate particle cooler has an adjustable operating speed and uses natural air cooling. The particles will not roll and break during the cooling process, making it the best choice for the graphite particle cooling section.
8.Metering and packaging machine
Graphite granules are generally packaged in small bags of 15-25 kg/bag. Fully automatic or semi-automatic packaging machines can be used, depending on the investment budget and local labor costs.
ADVANTAGES OF GRAPHITE PELLETS AS A CARBON RAISER
1.Prevents oxidation and burn-off, significantly improving absorption efficiency. While the burn-off rate of graphite powder can reach over 50%, graphite particles have a significantly reduced surface area and greater weight, allowing them to quickly penetrate the molten iron, resulting in a stable absorption rate of over 90%-95%.
2.Graphite pellets solve the problems of floating and slag encapsulation, ensuring a uniform carbonization effect. Graphite’s density is much lower than molten iron; fine powder floats on the surface and is encapsulated by slag, unable to penetrate the molten iron, leading to unstable carbonization and localized excessively high or low carbon content. This also results in the waste of large graphite particles. Due to their weight, graphite particles sink quickly into the molten iron and dissolve uniformly under convection, ensuring a consistent and uniform solution. 3. Greatly improves the working environment, protecting worker health and safety. Graphite powder is very light and can easily cause occupational diseases such as pneumoconiosis. Furthermore, due to graphite’s conductivity, graphite dust can affect the operation of electrical systems. Graphite particles generate virtually no dust, protecting worker health and eliminating safety hazards.
4.Graphite granules can be added accurately and automatically. Powder is prone to clumping and scattering, resulting in large weighing errors and hindering accurate feeding. Graphite granules can be easily and accurately measured using a metering hopper and can be automatically added via various conveying devices.
5.Graphite pellets have lower transportation and storage costs. Their stable granule morphology results in lower costs and greater advantages during packaging, storage, and transportation.
