Can MDF dust be directly pressed to fuel pellets?
The MDF dust pellet machine is capable of pressing wood pellets. However, unlike ordinary wood chips, MDF dust is extremely fine, and the wood fibers are already broken down. The moisture content is typically below 10%, with some cases even less than 5%. As a result, the ability to directly press MDF fibers into pellets depends on the wood type, size, and moisture content of the raw materials.
In countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, where the climate is humid year-round, the ambient moisture content is high. Therefore, the moisture content of the raw materials is generally above 12%, making them suitable for direct pellet pressing. However, the machine’s mold must be customized to match the specific properties of the raw materials.

CAN DISCARDED MDF WASTE OR PLATE BE USED TO MAKE FUEL PELLETS ?
Waste boards or scraps from the MDF production process can be converted into fuel pellets, but they must first be crushed. Typically, a crushing machine is required to reduce the raw material to a size of less than 10 mm, similar to sawdust, which is ideal for pellet production.
After crushing, the wood sawdust usually needs to undergo iron removal, as boards may contain screws or nails that could damage the pellet machine’s mold.
Fuel pellets made from MDF boards are generally intended for use in industrial boilers, whereas pellets produced from MDF dust are versatile and can be used both in industrial boilers and household fireplaces.

We can help you design a simple sprinkler device to control the moisture content at about 15%. Or if you have other raw material with higher moisture content, you can mix them. Please contact us for more solutions.

If you can delivery some raw materials to us, we’d be happy to provide a free trial. usually need about 50kg at least. And we can help to send the pellets back to you for testing the pellet quality.
