PRELIMINARY TREATMENT BEFORE MAKING SAWDUST PELLETS
There are two key requirements for raw materials used in wood pellet machines:
- The size of the wood chips should generally be within 10 mm. Here, “10 mm” refers to the length of the chips, not the length and width. The diameter of the wood chips typically should not exceed 2-3 mm. Therefore, smaller wood chips that do not meet this requirement must first be processed by a hammer crusher before pelletizing.
- The moisture content of sawdust should not exceed 20%. While pellets can still be pressed with moisture levels above 20%, this can lead to reduced machine output, rough pellet surfaces, and a shorter storage life for the pellets. If the moisture content exceeds 20%, a tumble dryer is recommended for proper drying before processing.
For many customers, the sawdust size and moisture can up to requests, but there are some wood chips or wood blocks mixed in the raw materials. This is also not acceptable, because it will damage the mold of the sawdust pellet making machine, so it is necessary to use a wood chip drum screener to screen out the wood chips and blocks.
