The process flow of straw pellets includes several steps: coarse crushing (applicable to baled straw and cotton straw), fine crushing (required for all straw), drying (required only for raw materials with a moisture content higher than 20-25%), and pelletizing. The combination of these steps depends on the initial size, moisture content, and fiber characteristics of the straw you plan using.

① Straw Grinder
The first crushing process for straw depends on the characteristics of the raw material. Bulk straw is suitable for horizontal straw grinder, while baled straw are suitable for straw tub grinders. Cotton stalks will get higher output with drum chippers. You can send us photos of your raw materials, and we will recommend the most suitable machine type. It’s important to note that choosing the wrong machine can lead to excessively high crushing costs and reduce pellet profits.

② High Efficiency Hammer Mill
Fine crushing of straw is a crucial step in straw pellet production line, as the crushing performance directly determines the output of the straw pellet making machine. In the Indian market, where rice straw is readily available, many customers choose to use it. However, they face problems such as low pellet mill output and high pellet production costs. ③ Rotary Dryer or Flash Dryer
Straw used as raw material generally only needs drying during certain seasons, such as winter in India or Pakistan, when its moisture content can reach around 25-30%. Small straw pellet mill, due to their lower output requirements, do not need to use a dryer. However, large straw pellet mill require a dryer, and we recommend using a rotary drum dryer because it offers temperature control, higher efficiency, and greater safety. In the Indian market, airflow dryers are more popular because of the lower investment cost.
