HOW TO MAKE GRASS PELLETS ? PROCESS FLOW OF GRASS PELLET PLANT
The production of grass pellets is a simple and efficient process that converts grass (such as alfalfa, napier grass, cattail, ryegrass, switchgrass, herbs, and reeds) into dense, easy-to-store and transport pellets for animal feed or biomass fuel. The process mainly includes three core steps: fine crushing, drying (if necessary), and pelletizing, which can be flexibly adjusted according to the characteristics of raw grass to ensure high-quality grass pellets.
CRUSHING PROCESS - GRASS CRUSHING MACHINE
Grass is usually loose and has uneven sizes, but the pellet mill needs the raw material size within 10mm and a moisture content of around 15%, so the grass needs to be crushed by a grass crusher before pelletizing. Direct pelletizing of uncrushed grass will lead to low capacity and even clog problem. The grass crusher is specially designed for various grass materials, with sharp and wear-resistant blades made of high-quality alloy steel, which can quickly crush all kinds of grass into a uniform size. It has the advantages of high crushing efficiency, low energy consumption, and easy operation.
DRYING PROCESS - GRASS DRUM DRYER
Most grass is dry enough at harvest and not require a dryer. However, some grass has a moisture content exceeding 25%, requiring drying, though this case is rare. When choosing a grass dryer, a rotary drum dryer is the first choice. Since grass expands after drying, a dryer with sufficient internal space is generally needed to prevent bridging or blockage during the drying process. Furthermore, the hot air furnace used by the dryer requires special design because hay is flammable and not heat-resistant; therefore, the hot air furnace needs adequate air distribution and fireproofing.
PELLETIZING PROCESS - GRASS PELLET MACHINE
The grass pellet machine is the core equipment in the entire production process. Therefore, the compressed grass pellets can be used as animal bedding on animal farms. The good water absorption and air permeability of the grass pellets can greatly improve the living environment of livestock. After use, the animal bedding pellets can also be fermented and used as high-quality fertilizer.
